Anchoring Anti-Racism: EDUK’s Vision for 2025

2025 is a pivotal year for EDUK’s anti-racism strategy. With lessons from 40 years of tackling racial inequality and inspiration from the Stuart Hall Foundation’s Race Report, EDUK is setting a bold action plan. By leveraging the Anti-racism Leadership Book Club, Courageous Conversations About Race sessions, and the Black Governors Anchor Hub, EDUK aims to embed sustainable change across education and governance.

Key Messages from the Stuart Hall Foundation’s Race Report

The report highlights systemic racial inequalities that persist in Britain across education, employment, health, housing, and the criminal justice system. Nine overarching themes emerge:

  1. The disconnect between legislation and enforcement.
  2. Holistic, collaborative approaches involving government, employers, and communities.
  3. The need for better data collection and research.
  4. Transparency and public accountability in addressing racism.
  5. Recruitment, retention, and career progression for ethnic minority groups.
  6. Mandatory anti-racism training and awareness initiatives.
  7. Setting measurable targets and performance indicators.
  8. Establishing independent oversight for racism complaints.
  9. Developing policies that ensure equity across all public services.

These findings reinforce the urgency for collective action to dismantle systemic barriers.
